Yves Saint Laurent: Dreams of the Orient

The Musee Yves Saint Laurent in Paris never fails to bring new light on the mind of the designer that led this influential fashion house. The curators here continue to root through their collections and make contact with other institutions to create thought-provoking shows. Their current offering - Yves Saint Laurent: Dreams of the Orient – follows this trend nicely.

This show celebrates the designs that focused on Eastern influences. Yves Saint Laurent spent a long time creating pieces that wouldn’t look completely out of place in Japan, China, Russia, India and Morocco. He did so throughout his career, with great impact on the fashion scene each time.

This new show at the museum take some of these incredible costumes and pairs them with other pieces of art and design from the country of origin. It is a chance to shed new light on the ideas and inspirations. The show continues until January 27th.
