Abstract Artist Georges Braque Revealed at the Grand Palais

At the Grand Palais, an exhibition dedicated to the French artist Georges Braque will be revealed on September 18, 2013. Showing off the different periods of the artists career, this comprehensive show will run until January 6, 2014. This gives guests staying at one of the Sister Hotels Champs-Elysées plenty of time to discover the unique style of avant-garde Braque.

This artist was one of the most influential pionners of abstract art, contributing to important movements such as fauvism, cubism and abstraction. Active during the early 20th century, Braque's career spanned a particularly intriguing and controversial period in the history of art.

The Georges Braque exhibition at the Grand Palais puts particular emphasis on the relationships he had with other artists on the scene at the same time. These artists included famous painters as well as photographers, with one of his most notable collaborations occurring with Pablo Picasso. Moreover, the exhibit also lets visitors get a glimpse of photographs of Braque taken by the likes of Man Ray and Henri Cartier-Bresson, one of the forefathers of photojournalism.

The exhibit is organized chronologically in order to give the spectator a clear idea of the artistic development of the artist, from the beginning of his career to the end. That includes his beginning works as an artist, his 1920s collages and his famous Studio Series — just to name a few highlights.  The Grand Palais will therefore be presenting the first comprehensive retrospective of Georges Braques since 1973, so visitors to Paris should not miss the chance to discover this groundbreaker of modern art.
