Founding Myths: From Hercules to Darth Vader

Dear guests who are staying at our Sister Hotels champs Elysées Paris, and are passionate about arts and myths, until July 4th, 2016, the Louvre’s Petite Galerie will be presenting Founding Myths: From Hercules to Darth Vader, an unparalleled exhibition curated by Dominique de Font-Réaulx.

Specially dedicated to young visitors, the exhibition Founding Myths: From Hercules to Darth Vader is an excellent occasion to discover how many classical and contemporary artists have found inspiration in ancient myths.

Founding Myths: From Hercules to Darth Vader features more than 70 artworks, classified into four sections. While the first gallery gives you the opportunity to explore traditional tales from the times of ancient civilizations in an attempt to provide an explanation of the creation of the world, the second one offers a chance to discover how the Greek, Egyptian, and Islamic civilizations described the cycles of nature. To see how classical and contemporary artists have depicted some mythological heroes in their works of art and literature, all you need to do is to visit the third gallery of the museum. The fourth gallery, however, allows you to reflect on the modern-day elucidations of myths and metamorphoses.

Save the date, the exhibition Founding Myths: From Hercules to Darth Vader, will be running until July 4, 2016, at the Musée du Louvre.

Open daily from 9:00am to 5:30pm, Wednesday and Friday until 9:30pm.

    Closed Tuesday.

    Enjoy!
