    François I and Dutch Art

King François I of France was widely popular for his passionate thirst for art. He patronized many prominent European artists including Andrea del Sarto and Leonardo da Vinci and founded the popular Italian school at Fontainebleau, which is actually the largest building project he ever built.

An outstanding exhibition that aims at highlighting the king’s fascination with Dutch art is held at the Louvre Museum, in Paris, bringing together an extraordinary body of works from his art collection. The artworks range from tapestries to sculptures to drawings and paintings made by renowned artists including the renowned portraits artists Jean Clouet and Corneille de La Haye.

The exhibition "François I and Dutch Art" is presented at Hall Napoléon, under the Pyramid of the museum.
