Jeanne Lanvin Expo at Galliera museum

The Galliera Palace celebrates the oldest French couture house still active, in close collaboration with Alber Elbaz, artistic director of the Maison Lanvin. Dedicated to Jeanne Lanvin (1867-1946), the exhibition is the first Parisian retrospective that brings together, in a hundred models, outstanding funds from the Palais Galliera and Lanvin Heritage.

There are various reasons why you should visit Jeanne Lanvin expo before it ends in August 23, 2015. The exhibition is above all an opportunity to learn the history of a leader french fashion house.

The Lanvin story began 126 years ago, in 1889 (remember that Chanel was founded in 1910, Christian Dior in 1946). Jeanne Lanvin begins as a courier apprentice at a milliner in 1885, she was then 18 years. Passionate about fashion, she decides to open his servant's room a small workshop to make hats. In 1889, at age 22, this young woman opens her first shop called "Lanvin Methods", at 16 rue Boissy d'Anglas in Paris. Four years later, it will migrate to the Rue St. Honore stay there until today.
The designer then presented a work fabric and diverse material: ribs, embroidery, cuts, inlays or various ornaments ... Jeanne Lanvin put forward that the woman had more beautiful with its low size and its worked busts .

Jeanne Lanvin exposition is in itself a discovery of about a hundred of her creations dating back to the 1920s, as the "Boulogne" dress in beige and red crepe, red bites, navy blue velvet and embroidered applications of white pearls. Or this beautiful black coat dated 1937, embroidered with gold sequins superimposed. A treasure that it is now possible to go touch ... with eyes only.
