    The Extravagant India! Film Festival on the Champs-Elysées

    On October 15, 2013, a new festival will begin celebrating the magic of Indian filmmaking. The organizers of this event have spent an entire year creating the 'Extravagant India!' International Indian Film Festival, which premiers in Paris this month. From its opening ceremony on the 15th until its closing on the 22nd, the festival invites film lovers to discover both mainstream Hindi cinema as well as the Indian New Wave.

With most of the event's activities being organized at the Lincoln cinema on the Champs-Elysées, guests are in the perfect location to experience Extravagant India!

    The opening ceremony welcomes special guests such as the Indian ambassador to France, Arun K. Singh, as well as Bijay Khelka, the president of the Film Federation of India. The ceremony includes a screening of the film Lunch Box, projected in the presence of the film's main actor, Irrfan Khan. Later in the week, films such as Antareen, Kahaani and Children of the Pyre will be screened both in and out of competition. In addition, a number of short films are also on the festival's agenda.

    Perhaps one of the most well-known Indian film genres is Bollywood, and for this reason a special night has been dedicated to it. Taking place on the 19th of October, the special Bollywood night features a viewing of the film Becharam, directed by Abinashev Kashyap. The film revolves around a mechanic named Babli who lives in an orphanage in the city of Delhi and steals cars to make extra money until one day something happens that changes his life.
